Snowboarding destinations within encyclopedia

Snowboarding is now almost as popular as skiing.  It is seen by many as cooler, especially young lads, and this is way it appeals to people of all ages.  The art of snowboarding was first noticed during towards the latter end of the 1960’s and into the 1970’s but it never really took off until well into the 1980’s when teens and young adults came to the conclusion that this sport was the most coolest.  At the end of the 1990’s snowboarding was officially recognised as an Olympic Sport and featured in the 1998 Winter Olympics for the first time ever.

Since then people have travelled the world, looking for the ultimate snowboarding thrill.  Austria is one destination which is popular with a big number of freeriders and freestylers.  Mayrhofen is a place which is also a popular choice for many British holiday makers as the destination itself boasts the most beautiful landscapes.

Switzerland has always been a favourite for skiers from around the world, and for snowboarders it was one of the first places in Europe to open its doors to this new art, with open arms.  As well as the fantastic ski slopes there are also slopes which attract the freestylers and freeriders who also like the thrill of throwing caution to the wind.

Another destination which is also a very popular one with snowboarders is in France in Les Deux Alps.  This is one of the largest ski resorts in the whole of France and it is very friendly with anyone wishing to snowboard.  The slopes themselves are good for both advanced and beginners.  There are ski and snowboard destinations all over the world in Sweden, Austria, Canada and California to name but a few.

All of these resorts have shops which sell merchandise such as Snowboard and snowboard goggles (Snowboardbrille).  They are very convenient for anyone who might have forgotten to pack the essentials, whilst in a hurry.
